Preview Kindred: New Burial EP



We here at Twilight Notes are not huge dubstep fans, but we have always had a soft spot for Burials dark, shadowy, soulful compositions.  Burial's last full album release was "Untrue" in 2008- since then we have been patiently waiting for a sequel and grabbing up all of his collaborations, b-sides, and remixes.  Anyway, until that release finally comes here is a small taste from Burial's forthcoming EP.  Enjoy.

Bonobo: Black Sands Remixed



Bonobo set to release a new collection of remixes from his Black Sands album, released last year on Ninjatune.  We have been listening to his records since "Dial M for Monkey," when his sound still being developed.  He has gone from Dj Shadow style sample based downtempo/instrumental hip hop to becoming a composer and songwriter, stitching together samples with new compositions and guest musicians and vocalists.

Dialect Tonight at MOA + New Dialect Podcast



Putting the final preparations together for Dialect tonight at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale and releasing our brand new dialect compilation to accompany the event. Dialect 11 continues the conversation from the previous volumes, compiling our favorite tracks from the indie, dance, soul, ambient, lo-fi, electro-pop genres into one complete statement, one complete thought.  Take a listen below, and if you make it to the event drop by and grab a cd copy.

Gorillaz to collaborate with James Murphy & Andre 3000



Via Consequence Of Sound: Talk about a dream team.... looks like the Gorillaz are teaming up with icons James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and Andre 3000 (Outkast) for a brand new track to be released in two short weeks.  I dont know if I could think of three people Id like to see working together more.  Thanks to converse and their ad budget for making this possible- looks like art and commerce can coexist.

A Strangely Isolated Mix



Check this beautiful podcast from ambient/electronic/shoegaze/techno/IDM blog A Strangely Isolated Place.  The name comes from Ulrich Schnauss's landmark album, defining the genre as well as the feeling that goes along with it.

Dialect: Movement This Thursday at MOA



  Twilight Notes is proud to announce that Dialect is returning to downtown Fort Lauderdale this week.  Thursday night we take to the Peck Terrace at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale for another huge night of art, music, video installations, sculpture, dance, and performances.

The XX, who are responsible for our favorite album of 2010 (which we are still listening to) are hard at work on their new record.        Great news for us, considering their epic "Stars" is currently number one on my itunes most played list.

The National Debut New Song



One of our long running favorite bands, The National, have debuted two new songs last week on Q tv at the Glenn Gould studio in Toronto.  These songs are true to form, wistful, heavy, emotive- and would sound right at home on Boxer or High Violet.  The National have also announced that they are ready to start recording their next album.

Future Islands Making Moves



We first heard this track on Broke Mogul's How To Make It In America Season Two Mixtape (R.I.P), but it wasn't until recently when we sat and listened to their "On The Water" album that we re-discovered this amazing song and album.  With such a steady stream of new indie bands to check out with similar names and even more similar sounds, every so often a great song pops up and sticks around in your head for awhile.

Bag Raiders January Podcast
