A-Trak Remembers Adam Yauch

A-Trak, the Dj/Producer/Label/Boutique Owner/Writer/Robot writes another insightful column, this time for Huffington Post.  In it, he reflects on his childhood hero Adam Yauch, who sadly passed away last week.  Follow the link below to read the whole article and take a listen to one of our old favorites.

New from Yeasayer- Henrietta

Very excited to share this new song from Yeasayer, called Henrietta.  A cd (cd??) of this song was sent out to fans on the bands mailing list with no information attached- no news of a new album on the way, but the band does start their first tour since 2010 next month. Henrietta is a beautiful, strange, sprawling track awash in lush synths and effects, the vocals and bassline plodding along then opening up into a spacey, epic crescendo.  Hopefully this is just the first single of a new album of material, and it all sounds like this.  Yeasayer continues to mature and impress with each...

Morgan Page remixes Meiko

Morgan Page, currently touring the world in support of his smash "In The Air" album gives a shiny, progressive/electro-house remix to this indie-pop track from Meiko.

Dj Mix Friday with Joris Voorn

Get ready for the weekend with some lush, thoughtful, introspective deep/techno from Joris Voorn.

Bon Iver Erotic Stories

This sort of speaks for itself.  One of the most hilarious things I've ever read. "Bon Iver has been up since earliest light, working on his new song. When I wake, the old oak table is strewn with papers and instruments: a fiddle, a tambourine, and the pennywhistle he always carries in his pocket. He fills the french press for me, wipes sleep from my eye, and muses, ‘Can you think of words that rhyme with hearth?"

New Passion Pit- Take A Walk

Finally, some new material from Passion Pit- check this new single from their forthcoming album, Gossamer.

Listen: Polica- Amongster

Take a listen to this ethereal, otherworldly track from Polica, taken from their debut album.

Erykah Badu- Serato Icon Artist

Interesting read from the Serato team about Neo-Soul Hip Hop artist Erykah Badu.  The article chronicles her career as an artist/singer and follows her move into becoming a Dj, exploring the differences between singing and writing music, Dj'ing and selecting.

Seth Troxler: Globetrotter

A Strangely Isolated Place

Take some time to get to know A Strangely Isolated Place- a beautiful music blog, record label, and now iphone app that focuses on ambient, shoegaze, singer/songwriter and electronic music.

Sunday Bliss with Of Oceans

Check this new single from Of Oceans, who are making their second appearance on our blog.

Instagram Galleries

Instagram, the photo-sharing social media app that has taken the world by storm, has started to  take over the art world as well.  Instagram is one of my current addictions and it has very useful applications for storytelling, sharing, and networking.  It changes the way you view the world in a subtle way that photographers understand- you are constantly looking to capture something beautiful.

Clams Casino Remixes Florence & The Machine

Take a listen to this absolutely gorgeous remix of Florence and the Machine's "Never Let Me Go" from instrumental hip hop producer Clams Casino.

Listen: ISO50 Playlist 14

Here is another playlist from the crew over at the ISO50 blog featuring tons of ambient, electro-pop, instrumental hip hop, disco, and electronic tracks.  I can always count on their playlists to hear some familiar favorites and some new artists.  This one is no different, featuring tracks from Tanlines, Phantogram, Todd Terje, Shigeto, SBTRK, School of Seven Bells, and more.  Follow the link below to listen to Volume fourteen and catch up on the first thirteen.

Watch: The National + Bob Weir Live

The past and the present really came together for me on this one- take a look at this video of a recent performance from Bob Weir along with members of The National.

Sunday Bliss with Stumbleine

Here's to another blissed-out sunday afternoon in South Florida- today the rain opened up and left us with a breezy, clear, sun-drenched end to the week.  After a long week of work and being out and about, we live for days like this.

Watch- Sebastien Tellier “Cochon Ville”

Sebastien Tellier- the bearded French master of sexual disco/electro-pop finally returns with a new album, out soon on Record Makers.  Luckily for us, his new track is a return to everything he does best- making seductive, overtly sexual French pop with a touch of disco.  Check out the official, uncensored video for his first single, "Cochon Ville."

Morgan Page- In The Air

After playing the title track to this album to death and still not getting sick of it- we are happy to be featuring Morgan Page's "In The Air" album for this weeks new release tuesday.  As one of the top American dance music producers, Morgan has a way of bringing together amazing vocalists and producers and creating not just "bangers" for the club, but actual songs- songs that get under your skin, stuck in your head, and stand up to repeated listens.  In the world of dance music, this ability is more rare than you might think.

Mixtape Monday: Om Miami 2012

For this week's mixtape monday, we are featuring a mix from our favorite label out of San Francisco, Om.  This dj mix was put together to promote their label showcase during WMC and as a teaser for their annual Om:Miami release.  Featuring artists like Soulstice, Dirty Vegas, Miguel Migs, Kaskade and more.

Mixtape Monday- Mick Boogie X Slum Village

For todays edition of Mixtape Monday (Ok, we are a day late, but I needed a day off after WMC weekend) we are featuring a new mixtape from Mick Boogie, who we had the pleasure of working with this past friday night.  It features a new Slum Village/De Las Soul collaboration as well as bits and pieces from SV's forthcoming album.

Listen: Jamie Woon- Spirits (Subb-An Remix)

Quick post today- just wanted to share this vocal deep house gem from songwriter Jamie Woon- remixed to perfection by rising star Subb-An.  Check the video below to hear the original and see how far a remix can take you to transform a song.

Santigold- “Disparate Youth” + 2 Bears Remix

For todays edition of new release tuesday, we are featuring the brand new single from Santigold, "Disparate Youth."  Taken from her forthcoming album, "Master of My Make Believe," Disparate Youth is a dubbed out, dreamy indie pop track that gets stuck in your head on first listen.  It is a much more mature sound than we heard on her debut- I have spent the whole morning pressing repeat on this one.  Let's hope the whole new album sounds like this.  Check the 2 bears remix for a more twisted, dance floor friendly mix.

Mixtape Monday with Snoop Dogg

For this week's edition of Mixtape Monday we are featuring a new deep house/nu disco Dj mix from Snoop Dogg... yes, that Snoop Dogg.

Listen: Fred Everything Live In Vancouver

We have spent the afternoon dancing around the fake offices enjoying this recent live set from Fred Everything.  Our followers know that Fred is one of our favorite producers- his tracks are all over our mixes and live sets- but listening to this mix we are reminded of what a great dj he is as well.  This mix was recorded last month in Vancouver at Fortune Sound's "Experience Saturday" party and is a perfect dancefloor ready deep house mix, with just the right touch of funk, soul, and disco thrown in.

Video: Gorillaz- DoYaThing

While we are a little underwhelmed by the new track from the Gorillaz featuring James Murphy and Andre 3000, you cannot deny this video.  Great to see the characters back in action, this time with Pixar style animation.

Andrew Bird- Break It Yourself

Today for new release tuesday we are happy to share a lovely new track from Andrew Bird's new album, "Break It Yourself."  Multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird creates a lush soundscape with his vocals, guitar, and violin, as well as a full string section.  The album is a beautiful listen- check out the very Americana workout "Lusitania," a duet with St. Vincent.
